Clusius project

Since 2004, the research project into Leiden botanist Carolus Clusius (1526-1609) has been sponsored by the Scaliger Institute. This is a collaboration of several researchers and departments within Leiden University and other (European) universities.


Scaliger correspondence

Project regarding an important Leiden humanist correspondence: the exchange of letters of Josephus Justus Scaliger (1540-1609).


Modernism in theology

The collections of Leiden University library contain a large number of pamphlets and small pieces of writing which discuss Modernism in theology at the end of the 19th and start of the 20th century.


Sacred books

The coming years, the Scaliger Institute wil organise a number of activities on the topic Sacred books.


The arts of learning

The programme Sources of Knowledge is a co-ordinating theme by means of which the Scaliger Institute aims to increase the coherence of research and teaching around the Special Collections.
