Call for applications Brill fellowship 2010
The Scaliger Institute and publishing house Brill invite researchers to apply for the Brill fellowship 2010.
- Brill fellowship
- Since 2006, publishing house Brill, the oldest scientific publishing house in the Netherlands, subsidises the Scaliger Institute to appoint two so-called 'Brill Fellows'. The Brill fellow carries out research in the Special Collections of the University Library in one of the publishing fields of Brill in the humanities. The Brill fellow is expected to contribute to the activities of the Scaliger Institute by giving a public lecture. If the opportunity presents itself, publishing house Brill is willing to publish the lecture in co-operation with the Scaliger Institute. The compensation for the fellowship is a maximum of € 1000 per month with a minimum of three months.
The application for a Brill fellowship has to comply with a number of conditions:- A research proposal must be submitted in which the relationship between the research proposal and the primary sources, which are to be researched and consulted in the department Special Collections, is specified;
- A list of manuscripts, prints and other items that will be consulted in the library.
- A starting and end date of the proposed research;
- A curriculum vitae;
- A list of relevant publications;
- The names of two academic references;
Applications for the Brill fellowship may be presented to an assessment board consisting of prof. Dr H. Beukers (Director Scaliger Institute), C. Keijsper, MA (Head of Special Collections, Leiden University Library), K. van Ommen, MA (Co-ordinator Scaliger Institute) and prof. Dr A.
