Route desciptions to the University Library

On foot from Leiden Central Station (allow 15 minutes)

Leave the station via the exit on the side of the city centre
Cross the Stationsplein and walk into the Steenstraat.
Keep following the road after passing the square on your left hand (Beestenmarkt): turn left and cross a wide bridge. Then, turn right straightaway, and follow the road until the intersection. Cross the intersection and proceed on the Rapenburg. Stay on the right side of the canal.
Turn right into the second lane: Doelensteeg. At the end of this lane is the LAK theatre. Turn left before the entrance, and then turn right after 20 metres. Walk across the wooden bridge, and cross the Wittte Singel. Walk towards the bicycle racks on the right. The entrance to the library is in the corner behind the bicycle racks.

By bus from Leiden Central Station

Take bus 28 (exit at stop Witte Singel Doelencomplex, which is directly in front of the University Library's entrance) or bus 30 or 48 (exit at stop Noordeinde, it is a three minute walk from here to the University Library).

From Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, the Hague/Rijwsijk via the A4:

Take exit no. 7: Leiden. At the end of the exit, follow the N206 towards Leiden (this is the Europaweg).
Cross the lift bridge, and follow the road until the roundabout. Go straight through. Follow the signs to Voorschoten on the Voorschoterweg.
After about 500 metres, turn right at the traffic lights onto the Churchilllaan.
After about 2 kilometres, turn right at the traffic lights onto the Haagweg.
Follow the Haagweg. Cross the level crossing. You are now on Noordeinde.
About 150 metres after the level crossing, turn right into the Witte Singel.
Turn right after 10 metres and follow the road: this is the Maliebaan.
On the left side of the Maliebaan, you will find the university car park.

From the Hague/Wassenaar via the A44:

Exit no. 8: Leiden. At the end of the exit, turn right into the Plesmanlaan.
After about 500 metres, turn right at the traffic lights into the Haagse Schouwweg.
After about 200 metres, turn left at the traffic lights into the Dr. Lelylaan.
After about 1.3 kilometres, turn left at the traffic lights into the Haagweg.
Follow the Haagweg. Cross the level crossing. You are now on Noordeinde.
About 150 metres after the level crossing, turn right into the Witte Singel.
Turn right after 10 metres and follow the road: this is the Maliebaan.
On the left side of the Maliebaan, you will find the university car park.

Parking: On the approach roads, there are signs to several parking locations in Leiden city centre. It is possible to park on the Maliebaan in the parking spaces, or in the university car park. The university carpark is underground on the left.
The car park is open from 7:30 until 23:30.
Rates: € 6.75 per day. After 12:30 pm: € 4.75
NOTE: payment by smart card ('chipknip') only.

: The car park on the Haagweg is opened 24 hours. It has around 1000 parking places, and optional free transportation to the city centre. A day-ticket is € 5.00.
